Site C job fair and business networking session coming to Fort Nelson on March 2
FORT NELSON – BC Hydro and its contractors are hosting a job fair and business networking session in Fort Nelson on March 2nd for workers and businesses interested in the Site C project. Construction activities on the Site C project are ramping up and workers at all skill levels are required.
“I’m committed to making sure workers across the region have an opportunity to learn more about the types of jobs that are available with the Site C project,” said Pat Pimm, MLA, Peace River North. “These job fairs are an excellent forum to match job seekers with the contractors who are building the project.”
BC Hydro’s contractors will be available to answer questions regarding the types of jobs available, their hiring process and any additional questions job seekers may have. Representatives from employment and skills training organizations will also attend.
“The Site C job fairs and business networking sessions are part of BC Hydro’s commitment to providing economic opportunities for northern and Aboriginal communities,” said Diane McSherry, Vice-President and Project Director, Site C.
Approximately 1,500 people will be working on the main civil works contract at its peak, and 600 workers are needed by this spring.
If you are interested in working on the Site C project, please attend the upcoming job fair in Fort Nelson and bring copies of your resume. Advance registration is not required.
Business Networking
BC Hydro and the Fort Nelson Chamber of Commerce are holding a business-to-business networking session in Fort Nelson. This session will provide an opportunity for local and Aboriginal businesses and suppliers to meet with Peace River Hydro Partners, the main civil works contractor for the Site C project.
